The vision of the Creston C.S.D. is to provide the foundation for students to become lifelong

learners and positive, confident, and compassionate citizens.

Dear Parents & Guardians,

With just over two weeks left of the school year, our focus remains steadfast on nurturing the growth and development of our students. Our dedicated staff continues to engage students in enriching activities, utilizing the local environment and weather to create meaningful learning experiences. As we approach the end of the school year, we celebrate the accomplishments of all our students, applauding their hard work and achievements as they prepare to transition to the next phase of their education or life journey.

I am pleased to announce that on May 19 at 2:00 p.m., we will be honoring 128 young adults who will be graduating and receiving their high school diplomas. Their commitment, discipline, and perseverance deserve recognition, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of them as they embark on new endeavors.

Looking ahead, I am excited to share some changes in our administrative structure. With Mr. Tanner's resignation as the elementary principal, we are restructuring administrative roles. Mrs. Anderson will assume the role of PK-4 principal, Mrs. Downing will oversee grades 5-8, and Mrs. Dickinson will serve as the Director of District Services, overseeing special education, TLC, professional development, curriculum, and more. Mrs. Dickinson and other administrators will collaborate closely to support Mrs. Anderson in managing two learning centers. This administrative model will be especially beneficial when our new Early Childhood Learning Center opens in the fall of 2025. We will closely monitor and adjust this model as needed to ensure it best serves our students, staff, and parents.

To address disruptive behavior among fifth to twelfth-grade students, we have established an Alternative Learning Center. This center provides a supportive environment where students can receive interventions and support services, enabling them to reintegrate into the mainstream learning environment successfully. Our goal is to equip students with the necessary skills to positively contribute to our learning community.

Construction of the new Early Childhood Center is scheduled to commence in July, with completion expected by August 2025. While we have safety measures in place during construction, we ask for your vigilance and cooperation in reporting any concerns.

We still have a few teaching positions to fill, particularly in Art and Special Education. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please refer them to our district website's employment page. Additionally, we are always seeking applicants for paraprofessionals, food service, custodial, and bus drivers. All open positions are posted on our website under the employment tab.

As we bid farewell to staff members who are retiring or moving on, I want to express my sincere gratitude for their dedicated service to our students and schools. May their retirement or new ventures bring them fulfillment.  Please note that the last day of school is Friday, May 24 and it is a three hour early dismissal.

Thank you for supporting our children, staff, and our schools making them the PRIDE of our community! Enjoy the summer break and may it be filled with memories. As always, please contact me with your concerns or questions at dstender@crestonschools.org or 641-782-7028.
