As we enter the final five weeks of school, our dedicated staff continues to engage with students and support their growth and success. This stretch is often the busiest time of the year, with teachers working hard to deliver essential content and students preparing for a wide range of year-end activities—from music concerts and awards ceremonies to athletic events and graduation. The energy and excitement are palpable, and it’s a reminder of just how vibrant and active our schools are.
Progress continues on the construction of the new Early Childhood Center. Like many construction projects, it can sometimes feel like two steps forward and one step back due to unpredictable weather and supply chain challenges. We are optimistic about the pace and will provide a clearer update on the early childhood program's start-of-year plans in July. One thing we do know, the current building at 801 N Elm Street will officially close at the end of this school year. With the planned closure of the building at 801 N Elm, the district is actively seeking interested parties to purchase the property. If no agreement is in place by March 2026, the district will move forward with plans to demolish the facility in the summer of 2026.
We are proud to celebrate the Commencement of the Class of 2025 on Sunday, May 18. This milestone marks the successful completion of our students' journey through Creston Community Schools. I am confident they are ready to take on the challenges ahead and pursue their dreams. Please visit the district website and plan on attending one of the many events our students are involved in. Your presence and support mean a great deal to our students, families, and staff—and are a big part of what makes Creston a strong and caring community.
As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year and look toward the future, we encourage families to make Creston Community Schools their school of choice. Our staff goes above and beyond to engage students in meaningful learning experiences that foster both academic and personal growth. We are proud to offer a wide variety of academic, extracurricular, and co-curricular programs that allow students to explore their passions, develop their talents, and achieve success. Whether it's in the classroom, on the stage, or on the athletic field, Creston students are given opportunities to excel and shine.
I invite you to join me for free coffee and great conversation on the third Tuesday of each month during the school year at a local coffee shop. It’s an informal opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, or simply connect. My next community coffee will be held at Creston Livestock Café on Tuesday, May 20, from 7:30–8:30 a.m. I’d love to see you there. Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. Your involvement is what makes Creston shine.
