Creston Transportation Department Completes Additional Safety Training

Posted Date: 10/24/25 (7:44 AM)

The Creston Community School District Transportation Department spent Thursday evening participating in two hours of additional safety training focused on AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. AED machines have now been placed on every district bus and in every vehicle that transports students—further reinforcing our commitment to student and staff safety and health. This initiative was previously approved by the Creston School Board and reflects our continued investment in safety readiness.
Drivers also received training from Iowa State Patrol Trooper Darren Flaherty, covering proper driving techniques, enforceable traffic laws related to bus operation, and best practices for student management and safety.
Regular training ensures Creston’s school bus drivers stay current on the latest industry standards and continue to provide the highest level of safety for students in and around the bus.
This training comes as we recognize National School Bus Safety Week (October 20–24)—a perfect reminder of the vital role our transportation team plays every day.
A special thank-you goes out to Hartsock Insurance for sponsoring an evening meal during the training and to Cater By Dee for preparing it. We appreciate your support—thank you, Tom and Dee!
