(REVISED 8/15/18 after first release)
Creston Community High School will celebrate Homecoming 2018 during the week of Sunday, September 16 through Saturday, Sept. 22. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Homecoming” (Wizard of Oz). Due to athletic scheduling, the 2018 CCHS Homecoming Queen will be crowned at coronation Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 P.M. in the CCHS auditorium. This year’s Hall of Fame members will be inducted at this time as well.
We anticipate another excellent parade scheduled for 1:30 PM Friday, Sept. 21 through the downtown area. (*NOTE TIME CHANGE DUE TO EARLY START TIME FOR FOOTBALL GAMES THIS SEASON.) Dismissal times for Friday, September 21st will be announced by building principals.
Businesses and organizations should register for the parade by Monday, Sept. 17; registration forms can be picked up in the high school office, found here (https://goo.gl/qqzNGK), or emailed to you by contacting Danielle Dickinson (email@example.com or 782-2116). They will also be posted on the school’s website. Floats should be decorated according to this year’s theme (Wizard of Oz), Creston Pride red and black, or football. The Lewis Central Titans will be the Friday night opponent. No political parade entries please.
The parade will start at the corner of Sycamore and Devoe Streets and will travel south on Sycamore to Adams Street, travel east on Adams Street to Maple Street. At Maple Street the parade will travel north and will disband in the area north of Howard Street near the Gibson Memorial Library. The public is invited to find a good place to enjoy the parade somewhere along the parade route.
ADDITIONAL DATES TO NOTE FOR THE WEEK:
Friday, Sept. 14: Float Construction Begins. Classes and clubs may begin construction on floats. Class officers will establish a location for float building and will communicate this, as well as work schedule, with classmates. All students are encouraged to work on their class float.
Sunday, Sept. 16: Homecoming Kickoff Event begins at 4:00 P.M. in the CCHS gym. The community is invited to join us as we kick off homecoming week with our traditional junior/senior competitions and a few features from community pep rallies of the past, including queen candidate interviews and performances by the cheerleaders and Peppers. Admission $5 (includes both events). Activity tickets will not be accepted; this is a fundraiser for student government to help cover homecoming expenses (including fireworks after Friday night’s football game) and other activities throughout the year.
